What is used

These four are the complete list. Nothing else is stored in your browser by this website.

Set by: ALANKOR, when you choose
What it does: Records your cookie choice and the version of the choices you were offered. Its whole value is a version number followed by either necessary or analytics. It holds no address and no identifier.
How long it lasts: Up to 180 days

`alankor.seen`

Kind: Local storage, first party
Set by: ALANKOR
What it does: Records that the opening sequence has already played, so a return visit uses the shorter one. Its whole value is the digit 1. It holds no name, address or other identifier and cannot follow you to another website.
How long it lasts: Until you clear your browser storage

Set by: Google Analytics, and only after you accept Analytics
What it does: Tells one browser apart from another so visits can be counted.
How long it lasts: Google's current default is two years

The legal pages on this website, including the one you are reading, load no script and set nothing at all. The contact page is an ordinary form that works with scripting switched off, and it sets no cookie either.

Necessary

alankor_consent and alankor.seen are treated as necessary for this launch. The first exists only because you made a choice and it has to be honoured. The second exists only so the opening is not replayed at you.

Whether an opening preference is strictly necessary is a judgement, not a settled point, and it can differ between jurisdictions. The website is built so that alankor.seen can be moved behind an optional preference without changing anything you see, and that classification is reviewed at least once a year.

Analytics

Analytics is optional and switched off until you choose Accept Analytics. Nothing is requested from Google and no cookie is set before that choice. Analytics is never preselected, and Necessary Only is presented as the same control, with the same weight, as Accept Analytics.

If you accept, measurement is limited to five events: a page view, the opening sequence completing, the Notify Me control being used, a signup starting, and a signup succeeding. Your email address is never sent to Google Analytics, and no identifier derived from it is either.

No advertising

This website runs no advertising or remarketing tracking of any kind. There is no Meta Pixel, no Google Ads conversion tag, no remarketing tag and no advertising personalisation. Advertising storage, advertising user data and advertising personalisation are refused by default and stay refused whatever you choose.

Changing your mind

Use the Cookies control in the footer of the home page. You can turn Analytics on or off there at any time. Turning it off clears the Google Analytics cookies from your browser straight away. You can also delete cookies and stored values through your browser settings.
